AI SEO & GEO
SEO is splitting in two, and most businesses are only playing one side
Google rankings still matter. But a growing share of your customers never see a results page at all. Here is how GEO works and why the winners are being decided now.

For twenty years, being found online meant one thing: rank on Google. That game has not ended, but a second game has started next to it, and it has different rules.
Ask ChatGPT, Perplexity or Gemini for the best accounting software for a small logistics company and you do not get ten blue links. You get an answer, with two or three brands named in it. Either you are one of them, or you do not exist for that buyer.
Enter GEO: Generative Engine Optimization
GEO is the discipline of making AI systems understand, trust and cite your brand. It overlaps with SEO, because good content and clean technical foundations help both, but it rewards different things:
- Answer-shaped content. Clear questions, direct answers, verifiable facts. AI models quote what is quotable.
- Entity consistency. Your name, niche and location described identically everywhere they appear.
- Citations beyond your site. Mentions in directories, reviews and industry articles teach models who you are.
- Machine access. Many sites accidentally block AI crawlers at the CDN level, deleting themselves from the answer pool.
Rankings decay gradually. AI answers flip instantly: one model update and the cited brands change overnight.
Why the window matters
AI answers show a strong first-mover bias: models keep citing sources they have already learned to trust. The brands establishing themselves as citable authorities in 2026 are compounding an advantage that will be genuinely expensive to displace later.
The good news: almost nobody in your market is doing this deliberately yet. That is the whole opportunity.
